How the crypto converter works

Enter an amount in either field and pick the currencies — the other field updates instantly. Conversions use a live USD reference rate, so you can go fiat→crypto, crypto→fiat, or crypto→crypto (for example BTC to ETH). Rates are indicative market prices and refresh each time you open the page.

Which currencies you can convert

Ten currencies, in any combination — three fiat and seven crypto, including the two dollar stablecoins.

Popular conversions

Any pair works in both directions. The ones people reach for most often:

  • Crypto to fiat: BTC to USD, ETH to USD, BTC to EUR, LTC to GBP — what a payment you just received is worth today.
  • Fiat to crypto: USD to BTC, EUR to ETH, GBP to BTC — what to charge when you price in your own currency.
  • Crypto to crypto: BTC to ETH, ETH to LTC, DOGE to BTC — comparing two assets without going through an exchange.
  • Stablecoin checks: USDT to USD, USDC to USD — confirming a dollar stablecoin is actually trading near its peg.

Where the rates come from

Rates are read from Coinbase's public exchange-rate feed, and the request is made by your browser, not by our servers — so the amounts you type never reach GriffNode and there is no account or API key involved. The last successful set of rates is cached locally, so the tool still converts if the feed is briefly unreachable.

These are indicative market rates for reference. The exact rate you get when you actually sell or spend crypto depends on your exchange or wallet, its spread, and the network fee at that moment — see the fee calculator for what those costs look like.

From conversion to actually getting paid

A converter tells you what a price is worth; a payment gateway lets you charge it. With GriffNode you can accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins on your site with a flat fee and direct-to-wallet settlement. See how the fees compare or make a payment QR code.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert USD to Bitcoin?

Enter the dollar amount, set the first currency to USD and the second to BTC, and the converter shows the equivalent in Bitcoin at the current market rate.

How do I convert crypto to fiat?

Pick the crypto in the first box and your currency — USD, EUR or GBP — in the second. The converter shows what that amount of crypto is worth right now. It is a valuation, not a sale: to actually cash out you still use an exchange or a wallet with an off-ramp.

Are these live crypto prices?

Yes. Rates are pulled live from a public price feed when you load the page, and the tool keeps the last values as a fallback if the feed is briefly unavailable.

What exchange rate does the converter use?

A single live USD reference rate per currency, taken from Coinbase's public feed. Every pair is calculated through USD, so BTC→ETH is BTC→USD→ETH. There is no markup or spread added on our side.

Can I convert one crypto to another?

Yes. Pick a crypto in both boxes — for example Bitcoin to Ethereum — and the converter calculates it through a USD reference rate.

Is the crypto converter free?

Yes. It is free, unlimited, and needs no account, sign-up or API key. It runs entirely in your browser.

Is the converter private?

Yes. The price request runs in your own browser directly from the price feed. The amounts you type are never sent to GriffNode.
